Alaina was a part of the Georgia Country Gospel Music Association children's choir. Her first visit to Nashville was at the age of twelve. The bar she frequented was Tootsie's bar and several other bars along Broadway. Alaina was the first to win Lake Winnepesaukah's WinniSTAR Youth Talent Contest in 2009. She composed and performed many songs, which included Leaving and Set Me Free, as well. Alaina was motivated to sing because of her aunt, Holly Witherow, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Before Idol, Alaina worked at CiC's Pizza. She was a graduate of Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe School, Fort Oglethorpe Georgia.
